Abstract
This article examines the problem of high sulfur compound content in crude oil and gas condensates, which creates technological and environmental challenges. The regulatory requirements for hydrogen sulfide and mercaptan content in oil according to GOST R 51858-2002 are presented. Modern desulfurization methods, including alkaline treatment and oxidative desulfurization, are discussed. The importance of developing new, efficient, and safe demercaptanization methods is emphasized. The conclusions confirm the relevance of further research in the field of oil desulfurization.
