Abstract
Gallstone disease and acute calculous cholecystitis remain among the most urgent problems of abdominal surgery in the Jizzakh region. The aim of this study was to analyze a 5-year experience in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with acute calculous cholecystitis at the Jizzakh Branch of the Republican Scientific Center for Emergency Medical Care. A retrospective analysis was conducted of 6,308 case histories of patients hospitalized from 2020 to 2024. An increase in the incidence was noted, from 23.8% to 30.2% over the analyzed period. The main diagnostic methods included abdominal ultrasound, MRCP, and ERCP. Laparoscopic cholecystectomy predominated among surgical interventions (70.3%), which made it possible to reduce mortality from 4.4% in 2020 to 0.2% in 2024 and to shorten the average hospital stay to 4.7 days. The obtained results demonstrate the effectiveness of implementing modern minimally invasive technologies and confirm the need for further development of laparoscopic surgery in the region.
