Abstract
Thyroid disorders are widespread among endocrine system pathologies and significantly affect metabolism, the cardiovascular and central nervous systems, as well as mental processes [L. Chiovato, 2019; J. Jonklaas, 2021]. In particular, hypothyroidism and thyrotoxicosis may be associated with impaired attention, memory, processing speed, and decision-making ability [C. M. Biondi, 2019; S. H. Pearce, 2023]. Because military service requires a high level of physical fitness, rapid thinking, and sustained attention, even mild changes in intellectual functioning may affect service performance [M. J. DeVries, 2020]. From this perspective, the early detection of cognitive impairment in thyroid disorders is of considerable importance [A. Bianco, 2022].
