Abstract

On the 1st of January, 2022, the Family Education Promotion Law came into effect in the People's Republic of China. This legislative initiative marks a historic shift in state policy, aimed at formalizing and regulating the role of the family in the educational process. This article provides a comprehensive analysis of this regulatory act, examining its socio-political context, key provisions, and implementation mechanisms. The purpose of this article is to analyze the legislative initiatives embodied in the law and assess the initial steps towards their implementation. The author concludes that the law, on the one hand, is intended to reduce the burden on children and parents caused by the “internal volume” of education, and on the other, it strengthens the role of the state as an arbiter of family relations, defining new boundaries between the private life of the family and the public interest, and stimulates the birth rate in China. Particular attention is paid to the practical aspects of the law’s implementation, including the creation of a parental education system and measures of responsibility for improper parenting.
