Abstract
Neologisms play a crucial role in the development of the modern Russian language, reflecting societal, cultural, and technological changes. One of the main mechanisms for creating neologisms is derivation—the formation of new words from existing ones using various word-formation tools. This article examines the process of derivation in contemporary Russian, analyzing its types, methods, and examples, and highlights the importance of derivational processes in enriching the language and expanding its expressive potential.
